SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Electric Shock Prevention

WARNING

Before starting wiring or inspection, switch power off, wait for
more than 10 minutes, and check for no residual voltage with a
meter etc.
Any person who is involved in the wiring or inspection of this
equipment should be fully competent to do the work.

2. Fire Prevention

CAUTION

Mount the brake resistor on an incombustible surface. Installing it
directly on or near a combustible surface could cause a fire.
Use the alarm signal to switch power off. A failure to do so can
overheat the brake resistor due to a brake transistor failure etc.,
causing a fire.

3. Injury Prevention

CAUTION

Ensure that the cables are connected to the correct terminals.
Otherwise, damage, etc. may occur.
While power is on or for some time after power-off, do not touch
the brake resistor as it is hot. Touching it can cause burns.

USER MANUAL for Easy Mill TM An Easy way of CAM Programming

1. Foreword

Easy Mill is designed for hobbists and tool room machinists
whose jobs are mostly simple 2D or 2.5D machining. Market
available CAM software are either too complicated or too expensive
for such a simple job.
Easy Mill is a freeware for an EM machining program up to 6
features. Which is quite enough for most of the simple 2D or even
2.5D machining jobs.
For those professional machinists, who are intended to
machine more features in one part, upgrading Easy Mill to
commercial use can give 20, 50 or 100 features to each part. Please
check the “Upgrade” in “Help” menu.
Any feedback, suggestion or donation ☺ are very welcomed.

Please send it to easymill09@gmail.com

2. Basic Concepts

There are many different kinds of CNC controllers available on
the market. Most of them follow a language system called “RS274”
for the machinist to communicate with the CNC controller. In this
language, there are many different single alphabets to represent
different commands, such as, G, X, Y, Z, S, T, M,..,etc. Since G
command is the mostly used, most people refer this kind of language
as “G-Code”. You can search the internet with this key word for more
information.
The latest revision of RS274 was done in 1980, roughly 30
years ago. There were so much improvement in electronics and
cutting tools technology after the last revision, and much more
demand for CNC machinists to achieve, which force the CNC
controller vendors started adding their own features into their
G-code systems. Until today, there is still no sign that the diversified
G-code systems will be harmonized in any way. Easy Mill tried to use
the most common G-codes adopted by the major controller vendors,
such as, Fanuc and Mitsubishi. Siemens and Heidenhain were also
considered, but not reviewed yet in current version.

Volume 3 of MELFA News covers the overseas specifications, which are mostly written in English. Promoted by the trend
toward business globalization, MELFA robots are increasingly used overseas. Especially due to the rapid growth in investment
in overseas plants and equipment for liquid crystals and semiconductors, indirect exports of MELFA robots are increasing,
especially to Asian countries. For sales within Japan, the Japanese specifications are applied as the standard. However, for
robots whose end users are overseas, the overseas specifications are required. This issue explains the differences between

terminal to allow communications with a Mitsubishi drive supporting MELSERVO
communications. The protocol supports access to pertinent parameters. Please
read this document carefully before attempting to configure communications with
these devices.
MITSUBISHI MELSERVO

Introduction

The EDICT-97 configuration software has been designed to allow the user to enter
commands in a manner that should be familiar to the user of a drive using MELSERVO.

Addressing Drives

The default drive address, found in Comms Devices, is 0. 0-9 and A-V are the permitted
ranges for Device Addresses.

Communications Mode

The default configuration for Edict97 is:
Port 2 - RS-232
